Notting Hill Carnival Security
The Carnival has been and gone for another year. From the reports we have had, both within the estate and the wider-area is that this year’s event was a success and largely trouble free.
We hope that you enjoyed the Bank Holiday weekend, and if you stayed in the area that you and your family felt safe and secure and were able to enjoy some of the festivities.
We engaged a team of security guards to provide a visible presence on the estate on Carnival Sunday and Monday to minimise the nuisance and anti-social behaviour caused by some Carnival goers. We also blocked off known problem areas (for anti-social behaviour) during the Carnival, in response to residents’ concerns. We’d really like your feedback on our security arrangements for the Carnival, so that we can take them into account next year.
We want to provide security on the estate for the Carnival weekend every year. To be able to do this with certainty, we are looking at options to build the costs into the service charges for the estate. That means that over the year, every household would make a small contribution towards carnival security, for the benefit of residents on Wornington Green. We will of course carry out further consultation and involve residents in planning the security arrangements for future Carnivals.
