Some tenants on Wornington Green Estate already have permission to keep pets and have asked if they will be able to take their pets with them into the new development.
Our approach to pet ownership in the new development is still to be agreed as part of the new neighbourhood rules. In the meantime, we have agreed that Wornington Green tenants will be able to request permission from Catalyst Housing to take their existing pet(s) with them, as long as they have not caused anti social behaviour. This commitment to existing tenants has been made now, to clarify the position for tenants who will receive offers of a new home in the first block to be built. Over the coming months we will be doing a pet audit on the estate to establish a definitive list of all existing pets, starting with the residents in phase 1 (Faraday, Lionel, Wheatstone and Telford Houses).
- Residents will be asked to complete a form seeking permission from Catalyst Housing for their pet(s) before they move to their new home. We will expect there to be no history of anti social behaviour before granting permission.
- Pet permission will be considered on a case by case basis, and individual circumstances will be assessed by Catalyst Housing staff. Approval will be required for each pet.
- Once a resident is in their new home, if a pet causes nuisance to another resident/s, Catalyst Housing can withdraw permission and ask the resident to make alternative arrangements for it.
- No pets should be replaced and no new pets will be allowed until a full pet policy is developed and a decision is reached about pet ownership in the new development. The pet policy will be developed as part of the neighbourhood rules which will apply to all residents living in the new development.
Existing tenants on Wornington Green Estate must comply with the conditions in Catalyst Housing’s tenancy agreement relating to pets, throughout the phased redevelopment of the estate. All tenants must ask Catalyst Housing for consent to keep any form of animal in their home.
